In an Instagram post with photos of the two through the years, Nick Carter has said that his "heart is broken" following the death of the youngest of the five Carter brothers, whom he called his "little brother".
"My heart has broken today," he writes.
"Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship,
my love for him has never, ever faded
. I've always held on to the hope that somehow, someday, I'd want to walk a healthy path and eventually find help." that I so desperately needed," he begins by pointing out.
"Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss. But the truth is that
addiction and mental illness is the real villain here
," the post adds.
"I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you Chizz,
now is your chance to finally have some of the peace you could never find
here on earth. God please take care of my little brother."

Carter has struggled with substance abuse and mental health
Police responded to Aaron Carter's home around 11 a.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a medical emergency.
Authorities later said that a caretaker had found him in the bathtub and that resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

In September, Carter checked into rehab for the fifth time in hopes of regaining custody of their young son, Prince, with fiancée Melanie Martin.
At the time, Prince was in the care of Martin's mother by court order.
