According to RIA Novosti, the demonstrators gathered on Stephen the Great Boulevard between the parliament buildings and the presidential administration, they tried to head to the central square, but the police blocked their path.
“Since the beginning of the opposition meeting, several provocations against law enforcement officers have been recorded,” the police said.
Shor party spokesman Dinu Turcanu, one of the organizers of the protest in Chisinau, said police had blocked more than 50,000 protesters from reaching the square.
The police say that 1.7 thousand people took part in the protest.
