Rolf Mützenich does not spread Kremlin propaganda.

The fact that the "Center Against Disinformation" of Ukraine's National Security Council put him on a list with people like Alice Schwarzer or Marine Le Pen who can actually be accused of this in the summer was factually unfounded and also political stupidity.

When the list was published in July, the SPD faction leader rightly complained about it.

The Ukrainians seem to have realized themselves that it is questionable and not helpful for them to publish such a digital pillory on a state information portal - the list is no longer accessible.

The fact that Mützenich is now rehashing this story, which dates back several months, shows a sensitivity that is embarrassing given the issues at stake for Ukraine.

It is increased by the fact that, contrary to the facts, Mützenich turned the list into a "terrorist list".

Mützenich is one of those German politicians who for far too long did not want to admit how aggressive the regime in Moscow is.

He joins the ranks of other leading Social Democrats who have contributed to mistrust of Berlin in Ukraine and among Eastern European allies.

Statements like those made over the weekend do nothing to break it down.
