Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan leaves hospital

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was discharged from hospital on Sunday, three days after he was shot in the legs in a failed assassination attempt, a close aide said.

Former Information Minister Fouad Chaudhry told AFP he had left the hospital, while local television showed him leaving a clinic in Lahore in a wheelchair and wearing hospital clothes.

Imran Khan, 70, was speaking to his supporters Thursday from a truck container in Wazirabad, about 170 kilometers east of the capital, when someone fired at him.

A man was detained in the aftermath of the attack, which government officials said was an "extremist" who had acted alone.
