At least 19 people were killed when a passenger plane carrying 43 people on board crashed into a lake in Tanzania, eastern Africa, on Saturday.

According to Tanzania's commercial airline, a passenger plane flying from Tanzania's largest city Dar es Salaam to Bukoba in the northwest on the 6th crashed into Lake Victoria near the airport when it tried to land on the airport runway.

Twenty-four of the 43 passengers and crew on board the plane were rescued, but at least 19 died.

In the local video, you can see how the parts other than the tail of the passenger plane are submerged in the lake and what seems to be a rescue operation using a boat.

Reuters, citing local media, reported that visibility was poor due to heavy rain and strong winds near the site at the time.

Investigators are investigating the cause of the crash.
