For its part, Abu Dhabi Police, through its digital traffic awareness, urged drivers to follow five important rules for the safety of users of bicycles and electric bikes, which are: not to ride bicycles in the opposite direction of the traffic of vehicles, avoid using bicycles in places designated for walking and running, and beware of holding vehicles when driving. The user of bicycles and electric bikes shall not cross the road on top of his bicycle, and avoid using the bicycle on roads whose speed exceeds 60 km/h.

She stressed the importance of reducing the speed of cycling in crowded areas, and driving in the permitted paths, according to the directional boards and common paths for pedestrians, bicycles, and electric, internal and secondary roads, and adherence to the requirements of security and safety procedures.

Abu Dhabi Police, through its social media platforms, published guidelines to enhance the safety of electric bike users, represented in wearing a protective helmet and a reflective jacket, using the lanes designated for bicycles while driving in the same direction, adhering to the speed limit (20 km/h), and avoiding carrying any passenger with The bicycle user, avoiding carrying any heavy weights so as not to lose balance, and not using dual speakers or the phone, as they distract focus, and being careful to respect traffic signs and rules.

The Integrated Transport Center of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, announced last August the start of implementing violations of the regulation for the use of bicycles and electric bicycles for individuals.

The regulation sets fines for anyone who violates its provisions, including fines ranging from 200 to 500 dirhams for all violations that violate instructions, instructions and safety standards, or related to roads and places where bicycles may not be used.
