Sahlgrenska hospital, of which maternity care at Östra hospital is a part, has, according to Ivo (inspection for care and care), not met the requirements of the Health and Medical Care Act by not having enough staff to provide good care.

Ivo has collected information about staffing and places of care, and states in a decision that the Östra hospital does not have enough midwives.

Most deviations come from BB

It also appears that most deviation reports within Sahlgrenska hospital have been reported by BB.

According to Östra sjukhuset themselves, it is the lack of midwives that has made it difficult to find staff and the required staffing.

Operations manager Corinne Pedroletti tells Ivo that fewer and fewer people want to work at BB and that this has caused a skills shortage.

Too many C-sections

In the decision, it also appears that the number of caesarean sections for the operation is far too high, and that the lack of space at BB has negatively affected the experience for patients.

The decision comes in connection with all emergency hospitals in Sweden being reviewed by Ivo.

The decision therefore receives no penalty at the moment.

SVT has previously reported on the midwife Marie who resigned twice but was ordered back due to staff shortages.
