If a moment of respite was observed in the protest movements against the rise in the price of petroleum products and traffic on major roads, it is clear that the doors of schools in the Haitian capital have always remained closed.

No student was noticed in uniform in the streets of Port-au-Prince and its surroundings which are crumbling under rubbish.

Online operation

At issue: the socio-economic crisis affecting the Haitian population, aggravated by a shortage of gasoline, driving up the price of public transport.

Some schools have somehow functioned online, but the problem of energy and internet access is hampering the initiative.

Right to education

Teachers' organizations call for respect for children's right to education and ask the Haitian government to take steps to allow the reopening of classes.

The Ministry of National Education informs that working meetings have been organized with the actors of the education system with a view to the return of more than four million children to school.
