Dubai Health Authority statistics revealed an increase in the number of health sector workers in the emirate by 5.6% during 2021, as their number was 50,799 in 2020, and reached 53,751 employees at the end of 2021.

The authority attributed the increase to the implementation of programs to attract qualified cadres in various medical specialties, to provide the best treatment services to citizens and residents, and its success in attracting the finest hospitals and international medical centers to open branches in the emirate, which made Dubai a regional center for medical tourism in the Middle East.

According to the annual statistical report issued by the Dubai Health Authority, the total workforce in the health sector in the Emirate of Dubai reached 53,751 employees in 2021, compared to 50,799 employees in 2020, an increase of 5.6%, in order to meet the increase in the population of Dubai, And to meet the increase in demand for health care in the emirate.

The statistics showed that females accounted for the largest percentage of employees working in the health sector in Dubai at 65.7%, compared to 34.3% for males, while the percentage of nationals was 8%, or 4281 employees, compared to 49,470 employees who were residents, or 92%.

Statistics indicated that nurses represent the largest proportion of the staff, with 19,905 nurses, representing 37%, compared to 19,272 nurses in 2020, an increase of 3.3%, equivalent to 633 nurses, followed by technicians with 12,113 technicians, and in the third place, doctors with 10 thousand. And 793 doctors, compared to 10,437 doctors in 2020, an increase of 356 doctors by 3.4% during 2021.

The number of dentists reached 3,017, an increase of 5.6% from 2020, when there were 2,699 dentists, an increase of 318, an increase of 11.8%.

According to the statistics, pharmacists represent 7.3% of the total workforce in the health sector in Dubai, while administrators represent 7.4%.
