Yemen..a new tour for the UN envoy to mobilize efforts to return to extend the armistice

Yemeni diplomatic sources said that the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, will start a new tour in the region that includes Gulf and Arab countries as part of his efforts to return to the truce track and extend the armistice in Yemen.

The sources indicated that the envoy's tour includes, in its first phase, the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, during which he will meet officials in the two countries to consult and inform them of the latest developments regarding pushing the Houthi terrorist militia to return to signing the extension of the humanitarian truce that ended in early October and the militias refused to extend it.

The UN envoy had concluded his previous tour in the region, which included "Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the Sultanate of Oman", emphasizing a breakthrough in the file of Muscat's side consultations between the Yemeni parties regarding a return to the armistice, without disclosing more details about how to implement its disputed provisions.

This comes with the assertion of the Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, in his speech before the Arab Summit held in Algeria, the commitment of the Council and the Yemeni government to the truce despite the Houthi militia's refusal to extend it.

Al-Alimi pointed out, according to the official Saba news agency, to the spirit of optimism that prevailed throughout Yemen in light of the truce sponsored by the United Nations, during which the government complied with all its conditions and continues to this day, despite the terrorist militias' refusal to renew the truce and their failure to fulfill their commitment to open Taiz roads, which has been besieged for seven years. .

On the ground, the military media of the joint forces on the western coast reported that focused strikes were directed at targets belonging to the terrorist Houthi militia, while they were trying to create sites near the contact lines south of Hodeidah.

He pointed out that the joint forces in the Hays axis monitored intense movements and the arrival of Houthi militia reinforcements to the south of Tuhayta, and they were quickly dealt with firmly.

In Marib, the forces of the Yemeni army and the local resistance were able to thwart an attempt to advance by the Houthi militia on the western front of the governorate, and were able to destroy the combat mechanisms used in the attempt, in addition to a number of Houthi deaths and injuries.

In Al-Jawf, violent confrontations took place between tribal gunmen belonging to the "Hamdan Al-Jawf" tribes, and the Houthi militia, which tried to loot their lands in the east of Al-Hazm city, the capital of the province, which caused the death of a number of Houthis, and the burning of their vehicles.

Tribal sources said that the confrontations, which centered in the Saed Khamsan area, east of the city of Al Hazm, lasted for hours, during which the tribes managed to deter the Houthis, burn their combat vehicles and inflict heavy losses on them.

The sources expected that the confrontations would continue in light of the mobilization operations carried out by the militias to the region, while the tribes of "Hamadan Al-Jawf" announced the tribal mobilization to confront the Houthi attack on their lands.

In Sanaa, the confrontations between the tribes of Bani Hashish and the militias in the Saraf region, north of the capital, renewed, against the background of the latter’s attempt to extend and confiscate the lands of the tribes in the region, which have been going on for weeks, as the militias practiced a suffocating siege against the people of the Saraf region to force them to give up their lands.

On the other hand, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen said in a statement that Houthi militia mines had killed and injured 343 civilians in Yemen during the past five months.
