Yesterday, the activities of the Bahrain Forum for Dialogue "East and West for Human Coexistence" were launched at the Isa Cultural Center in the Bahraini capital, Manama, with the participation of a number of prominent intellectual figures and representatives of religions from different countries of the world, and will last for two days, under the patronage of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, delivered a speech in which he stressed that the UAE, based on its successful experience in the field of tolerance and coexistence, is keen to cooperate with everyone in this field.

The Bahrain News Agency (BNA) stated that organizing the forum comes within the framework of Bahrain’s keenness and strategic direction to build bridges of dialogue between leaders of religions and sects, and symbols of thought, culture and media, in permanent cooperation with Al-Azhar, the Catholic Church, the Muslim Council of Elders and a number of international institutions concerned with dialogue, human coexistence and tolerance. .

The forum program includes a number of sessions that highlight the promotion of global coexistence and human fraternity, dialogue and peaceful coexistence (the Bahrain Declaration as a model), the role of religious men and scholars in addressing the challenges of the age, interfaith dialogue and achieving global peace (the Human Fraternity Document as a model).

In a speech before the forum, Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, announced the King of Bahrain’s approval of establishing the King Hamad International Prize for Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence, emphasizing the importance of dialogue, understanding and joint cooperation between countries, and in support of all efforts of good and rapprochement between human beings without discrimination.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman welcomed the participation of His Eminence the Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Chairman of the Council of Muslim Elders, and His Holiness Pope Francis, President of the Catholic Church, appreciating the efforts of the Muslim Council of Elders and the Vatican and their participation in organizing this forum.

At the conclusion of the speech, Sheikh Abdul Rahman called on everyone to unite and cooperate, and to confront with all responsibility those who advocate sedition, incitement and hatred.

After that, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, delivered a speech in which he expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the King of Bahrain for this initiative and the invitation to hold the forum.

In his speech, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak added: “We are a country that sees tolerance and coexistence as a way to achieve economic and social progress in all regions of the world, and a way to guarantee freedom of belief, protect places of worship, and spread the principles of mercy and affection among people, and that tolerance and human brotherhood are the way To get rid of conflicts and conflicts, to combat extremism and terrorism, and to spread peace and security throughout the world.

He said, "The topic of the forum confirms that we aim to work together, in order to build bridges of cooperation between East and West, and provide channels for dialogue and coexistence between them, in order to achieve convergence and joint action between the two parties, on an equal footing, and as partners." The Forum is fully convinced of the possibility of finding successful solutions to effectively deal with any differences or differences between East and West.

After that, His Holiness Bartholomew I, the Ecumenical Patriarch and Archbishop of Constantinople in the Turkish Republic, delivered a speech in which he stressed the importance of dialogue in facing prejudice, fanaticism and misunderstanding of the other, and their negative effects on peace.

Then Ambassador Hussain Ibrahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, delivered a speech in which he expressed his thanks to the Kingdom of Bahrain for organizing this forum.

After that, Miguel Angel Moratinos, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, delivered a speech in which he expressed his happiness at participating in this forum, which comes within the framework of Bahrain's visions in supporting the values ​​of coexistence and its respect for cultural diversity and religious pluralism.
