While North Korea has launched a ballistic missile that is believed to be of medium-range or higher, the initial judgment between South Korea and Japan is divided over whether to pass through the Japanese archipelago.

According to NHK and Kyodo News, the Japanese government said that a ballistic missile launched by North Korea passed over Japan.

The Japanese government has issued an alert such as "evacuate in a building or underground" in Miyagi, Yamakata, and Niigata prefectures through the nationwide patrol warning system that urgently delivers information to local governments through artificial satellites.

The South Korean military's Joint Chiefs of Staff estimates that the missiles launched by North Korea are at or above mid-to-long-range based on the separation of the stages.

However, it is known that the military is judging that the missile did not cross the Japanese archipelago.
