The military issued a warning communication to inform them that this was a violation of the military agreement and to immediately stop the provocation.

North Korea fired a long-range ballistic missile into the East Sea from the Sunan area of Pyongyang yesterday morning.

It is believed that North Korea's first intercontinental ballistic missile, the Hwasong 17, unveiled in 2020.

Launched at an elevation, the missile landed outside Japan's exclusive economic zone in the East Sea.

It was analyzed to have a maximum altitude of 1,920 km, a flight distance of 760 km, and a maximum speed of Mach 15.

North Korea's ICBM launch is the seventh this year since February.

The South Korean and US intelligence authorities determined that the first and second stage propellants were normally separated after launch, but the warhead flight after that was unsuccessful.

This is because the top speed of an ICBM must exceed Mach 20 to reach a distance of more than 5,000 km.

Immediately after the North Korean provocation, an emergency national security meeting presided over by Kim Seong-han, head of the National Security Office, strongly condemned North Korea's launch of an ICBM, etc., as a grave violation of UN Security Council resolutions, and warned that the North's provocation would only further isolate North Korea.
