Yemen..European-Yemeni meeting to discuss the intransigence of the Houthi militias regarding the armistice

Today, in the temporary Yemeni capital, Aden, a meeting was held via videoconference between the Yemeni government, the European Union delegation and the ambassadors of a number of EU countries accredited to Yemen, to discuss the continued intransigence of the terrorist Houthi militia and its rejection of all international calls to renew the humanitarian truce.

The official Saba news agency stated that the meeting dealt with coordinating positions for what can be taken towards the militias' continued intransigence in rejecting all UN and international calls to renew the humanitarian truce and a political solution.

The meeting indicated the Yemeni political leadership's rejection of all levels of Houthi blackmail, which it is putting forward in the consultations sponsored by the United Nations, and will take all measures to protect the capabilities of the Yemeni people.

The meeting also touched on the dangerous military escalation of the Houthi militia, its targeting of vital interests and its continuous threats to international navigation. Yemeni Prime Minister Maeen Abdul-Malik confirmed that the classification of the Houthi militia as a "terrorist group" came by a decision of the National Defense Council, as a result of its clear terrorist practices, including targeting the government. At Aden International Airport at the beginning of last year 2021, and its attacks on the oil sector and international navigation in Yemen and neighboring countries, its dissemination of mines and its grave attacks on citizens.

Abdul-Malik reiterated his government's keenness not to harm the commercial and humanitarian sector as a result of the classification, and will work to put in place mechanisms to do so.

According to the official agency, the mission and the European Union countries affirmed their support for the Yemeni government to protect the capabilities of the Yemenis, and renewed their condemnation of the Houthi attacks targeting the oil sector and international shipping.

The European-Yemeni meeting comes within the framework of international efforts to restore the truce and extend and expand the truce, led by the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundeberg, in light of the continuation of side consultations between the two sides in Muscat and another in Jordan, with the aim of achieving a breakthrough in this regard.

Well-informed Yemeni sources stressed the importance of military and combat coordination between the various Yemeni forces and the Arab coalition forces to support legitimacy in Yemen, to confront the Houthi militias, which are threatening stability in the Arabian Peninsula with a sophisticated external weapons system.

During the past few days, the militias deployed their advanced weapons that they received through the port of Hodeidah during the humanitarian truce, on the fronts of "Al-Jawf, Marib, Al-Bayda, the West Coast, and Taiz", including weapons targeting international navigation in the Red and Arab Bahrain.

Today, Wednesday, terrorist militias renewed their attacks on Yemeni army and resistance positions and civilian areas on the "eastern, western and northern" fronts surrounding the city of Taiz, during which various weapons were used.

Field sources stated that the militias used booby-trapped drones in their attacks to bombard the Al-Shaqab front of the Sabr Al-Mawadim district, southeast of the city, and the Al-Kadha and Maqbna fronts in the western front of the governorate, causing casualties among the army and civilians, and causing great material damage.
