Government spokesman Olivier Véran said on Wednesday that he was hopeful of finding a "majority in the National Assembly to develop renewable energies" and adopt the bill which is coming to the Senate.

Government spokesman Olivier Véran said on Wednesday that he was hopeful of finding a "majority in the National Assembly to develop renewable energies" and adopt the bill which is coming to the Senate.

"I cannot imagine for a second that we do not have a majority in the National Assembly to develop renewable energies in our country", replied Olivier Véran at the end of the Council of Ministers.

"It is a concern of everyone, whatever the political idea that may be that of each parliamentarian: when we talk about building fifty offshore wind farms, multiplying by ten the solar power in our country, getting out of dependence on carbon energies, I believe that the path to consensus can be identified", added the minister.

"You have in particular a few parliamentary groups which are very focused on the ecological question and renewable energies, I imagine that in this area, political politics will give way to the general interest", he insisted. .

Not seeing how parliamentarians who have "ecological fiber" could vote "against a text that advocates renewables", the spokesperson "prefers to consider that there will be a majority in Parliament on this important text".
