Poland begins building a barrier on the border with Russia

Poland has begun building a temporary barrier along its 210-km border with Russia's Kaliningrad enclave, in order to enhance its security, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak announced on Wednesday.

And the Bloomberg news agency quoted the minister as saying at a press conference that this decision comes after reports that the airport in Kaliningrad has started receiving flights from North Africa and the Middle East.

Earlier this year, Poland built a wall on its border with Belarus, after accusing the Kremlin of planning to push thousands of people from countries including Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan to its border in late 2021.
