This was reported by the press service of "United Russia" with reference to a joint statement by the heads of the State Duma committees on defense and security Andrei Kartapolov and Vasily Piskarev.

As the Izvestia newspaper wrote, citing sources in the State Duma, deputies from United Russia plan to amend the Criminal Code on punishment for evading mobilization in the form of a fine of up to 500 thousand rubles or imprisonment for up to five years.

Kartapolov and Piskarev confirmed that the initiative on liability for evasion from service was considered "at the very beginning of the announcement of partial mobilization."

It is noted that to date, partial mobilization has been completed.

“This initiative has lost its relevance.

It is not considered by the State Duma,” the heads of the committees said.

At the end of September, deputies of the State Duma adopted in the second and third readings a bill on imprisonment of up to 15 years for compulsion to violate the duties of military service.
