At the Feyzin refinery, the unions and management have not spoken to each other for nearly 15 days.

Despite a national agreement, the blockage continues near Lyon due to local demands requested by the CGT, particularly in terms of hiring.

The unions, however, fear requisitions in the coming days.

The subject of fuel shortages seems to be easing and yet the strike continues at two TotalEnergies depots in France.

This is the case in Gonfreville, in Normandy, and in Feyzin, near Lyon.

In the latter, on the 35th day of the strike, hundreds of employees are still preventing the "shipping" service from functioning despite the requisitions ordered by the prefecture.

In the Rhône, local demands are causing blockages and the dialogue between management and unions is at a standstill.

The CGT calls for hiring

In Feyzin, since October 19 and the signing of a majority agreement for the entire TotalEnergies group, discussions between unions and management have been at a standstill.

For the CGT delegate of the site, Pedro Afonso, their demands relate mainly to hiring.

"It is only hirings that we need in order to operate our site safely. Without these jobs, we have a problem of operation, therefore of security of the site and the surrounding populations", he explains.

Faced with the radio silence of the management, he adds that the unions are turning "to the government so that it can urge a mediator of the Republic."

Fuel aid is back in 2023, but for large rollers only

After more than a month of strike, the CGT recognizes that the situation begins to be complicated for them.

To deal with this, a solidarity fund, fed by transfers from all sections of France, allows employees to hold on financially.

Then, the regular requisitions of the prefect come to consolidate the movement as confirmed by Pedro Afonso.

"They weigh on the strikers but that only strengthens their determination against a boss who no longer wants to hear them."

The CGT fears other requisitions for the days to come, because near Lyon, some service stations are still in shortage of fuel.
