"Our dream continues, more alive than ever".

Thus the outgoing president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, speaking for the first time since he was defeated in the ballot by Inacio Lula da Silva on Sunday evening.

"We are for order and progress", added the right-wing leader, underlining that he "will continue to obey the Constitution", but without specifying whether he recognizes the defeat and without making known his next moves.

"I understand the protests motivated by indignation, but methods of the left should not be used. It is an honor to be the leader of millions of Brazilians. I will continue to defend economic and religious freedom and the yellow and green colors of Brazil," he says.

Bolsonaro authorizes the transition with Lula

The Brazilian government has agreed to initiate the transition with President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Minister Ciro Nogueira, Jair Bolsonaro's chief of staff, announced that the president has authorized "to begin the transition".

Noguera spoke after Bolsonaro's speech of less than three minutes.

The transition process "will have begun in compliance with the law," added Nogueira, stating that he was authorized to issue the statement by the head of state.

The transition, he specified, will begin on Thursday, when Lula formalizes the name of his vice president, Geraldo Alckmin.

He didn't congratulate Lula

The former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, in his first public speech after the result of the presidential elections won by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, did not congratulate the opponent, limiting himself to authorizing the transition of government, which will be managed by the minister of Casa Civile, Ciro Nogueira, together with the elected vice president, Geraldo Alckmin, as reported by the Brazilian media.

"We'll miss us, won't we?" Said Bolsonaro, addressing Nogueria, before starting his speech.

After more than 40 hours of silence, Bolsonaro spoke for a minute.

Brazil blocked

In the meantime, protests by Bolsonaro supporters continue throughout Brazil, who have occupied roads and highways causing, among other things, the cancellation of 800 buses departing from Sao Paulo and some flights scheduled for the day.

Protesters gathered at a construction site to await Bolsonaro's statement.

Due to the protests and the lack of a stance by the outgoing president, 200 public prosecutors signed a letter asking the Attorney General of the Republic Augusto Aras to open an investigation into the alleged instigation by Bolsonaro and others. authorities with jurisdiction in relation to roadblocks.

Bolsonaro condemns the protests

The president says he is outraged by the electoral "injustices" but condemned the roadblocks that have paralyzed Brazil: thousands of trucks block dozens of motorways throughout the country, in particular the major arteries leading to airports, ports or connecting the metropolises.

Even the cars of the Ferrari team, which arrived in Sao Paulo for the Formula 1 Grand Prix, remained blocked.

Fault of the "Bolsonarists" who reject the victory of Lula (50.9% to 49.1%) in the presidential elections last Sunday and were waiting for a signal from Captain Bolsonaro.
