The president of Brazil, the far-right Jair Bolsonaro, assured on Tuesday that his dreams are more alive than ever, in a brief speech in which he

ignored the victory of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva

in the elections, although a high-ranking official in his government later confirmed that this week the transition will begin.

"Our dreams are more alive than ever, we are in favor of order and progress

," said a smiling Bolsonaro at the Planalto Palace in Brasilia, in his first public demonstration since his electoral defeat on Sunday.

Members of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), the Superior Federal Court (STF), the government, and the presidents of the two chambers of Congress have spent the last two days trying to persuade Bolsonaro that he should concede defeat in the elections.

The president did not do it in person, but a representative of his government did.

The announcement took place two days after the victory of the leftist Lula at the polls

by a narrow difference (50.9% to 49.1%)

, which was already recognized by numerous international leaders and by allies of Bolsonaro himself.

His statement will coincide with the second day of

roadblocks

by truckers and Bolsonaro protesters

throughout the country to protest against the electoral result.
