A ceremony was held in Ulaanbaatar to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the dispatch of Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers to Mongolia by JICA = Japan International Cooperation Agency.

About 200 people, including government officials from both countries, attended the commemorative ceremony held on the 1st in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.

In the speech, JICA President Akihiko Tanaka said, "As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the dispatch of Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers to Mongolia, we would like to continue working together with you, valuing our relationship of trust."



A total of 725 volunteers have been dispatched to Mongolia so far, and four of them are currently working as nurses and physical therapists.



The four were appointed three years ago, but were forced to return to Japan temporarily due to the spread of the new coronavirus, and have returned to the site and resumed their activities since this year.



While China and South Korea are strengthening their assistance to Mongolia, Japan is providing yen loans to build an international airport and other infrastructure development projects, as well as health, medical care, and communication technology. .



One volunteer member, Ms. Saori Matsumoto, a nurse from Yamaguchi City, said, "I would like to think hard about what I can do to improve the quality of nursing in Mongolia."



Ryo Kubota, a physiotherapist from Misawa City, Aomori Prefecture, said, "I want to gradually improve the points that I find on site."
