Palestinian killed by Israeli bullets in West Bank

A Palestinian was killed on Sunday by Israeli fire while carrying out a run-over operation against soldiers in the West Bank, the army and medics confirmed.

The incident, which occurred near the city of Jericho, comes amid an escalation of violence between the Israeli and Palestinian sides in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

"The attacker drove his vehicle quickly in the direction of IDF soldiers who were at a bus stop adjacent to the Nabi Musa intersection," the army said in a statement.

The statement confirmed that the driver continued to drive in the direction of other soldiers, and added, "A policeman and a civilian who were at the scene responded with live ammunition to the attacker and neutralized him."

An army spokesman confirmed to AFP the driver had been killed.

The attack comes hours after an Israeli was killed in a shooting attack in the city of Hebron in the southern West Bank, carried out by a Palestinian who was also killed by a security guard.
