“While the nuclear safety and security situation at ZNPP remains volatile, over the past ten days, the plant has received the electricity needed for reactor cooling and other critical safety and protection functions directly and without interruption from the national grid,” the statement said.

The agency noted that the Zaporizhzhya NPP faced repeated power outages, which forced it to temporarily rely on diesel generators. 

Earlier, the IAEA reported that the external power supply to the Zaporizhzhya NPP was again turned off, the facility receives electricity through a backup system.
