State Department: US and Russia agree on a meeting to discuss the resumption of inspections on START-3

This was announced by US Deputy Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Bonnie Jenkins.

“We are now studying the dates to meet with the Russians and discuss the resumption of inspections,” TASS quoted her as saying.

Jenkins stressed the US commitment to continue implementing START.

In August, Igor Vishnevetsky, deputy director of the Department for Nonproliferation and Arms Control of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that Russia and the United States intend to discuss the situation with inspections under START III.

Prior to this, US President Joe Biden said that his administration was ready to discuss with Russia a new arms control system that would replace the START III treaty, which expires in 2026.
