Yuki Nakahashi (27) from Toyama Prefecture won second place in the composition category of the Geneva International Music Competition in Switzerland, which is known as a gateway to success for young musicians.

The 76th "Geneva International Music Competition" held the final selection for the composition section on the night of the 26th.



Among the 97 participants from 37 countries, the finalists were Yuki Nakahashi from Toyama Prefecture, as well as three composers from Hungary and South Korea. performed by the chorus.



The theme of Nakahashi's work is a story that appears in the Bible, and six male and female singers express the sound of waves and the cries of animals using unique techniques of vocalization and breathing.

After about 15 minutes of music, the audience gave a big round of applause.



As a result of judging, a Korean male composer won, and Mr. Nakahashi came in second.

In an interview with NHK, Mr. Nakahashi said, "I'm satisfied with the result, as the work that expresses my individuality in free songwriting has been accepted. It looks like it will be an opportunity for me to grow further as a musician."



Mr. Nakahashi was born in Oyabe City, Toyama Prefecture, and after attending piano classes in the city from an early age, he began composing in high school and entered Tokyo University of the Arts.



He is currently enrolled at the National Conservatory of Music in Paris, France.
