Sweden Democrats' party leader Jimmie Åkesson is once again banned from the Nobel festivities in Stockholm, because according to the Nobel Foundation, the party "shows a lack of respect for the basic principle that all people are of equal value".

"The Nobel Foundation has chosen not to invite the ambassadors of Russia and Belarus to the Nobel Prize ceremony," the foundation also announced.

But the Iranian ambassador's welcome has sparked outrage on social media, and the Nobel Foundation's Instagram page has now been flooded with angry comments.

"Criminal Killers"

"I and my compatriots demand that you immediately withdraw your invitation to the ambassador of the Islamic Republic.

That regime is criminal murderers,” writes one user.

"People are murdered, raped, abused and tortured in Iran and you invite the country's representatives to the Nobel party?

Shame," writes another.

Sweden's former social security minister, Ardalan Shekarabi (S), has also reacted.

"Isn't it remarkable that Iran's ambassador is invited to the Nobel festivities?

At the same time as people in Iran are being murdered," he writes on Twitter.

SVT Nyheter has unsuccessfully sought the Nobel Foundation for a comment.
