At least 13 people have been killed in a terrorist attack on a pilgrimage site for Shiite Muslims in the southern Iranian city of Shiraz, according to the Iranian government.

Security officials are investigating the details.

Iranian state news agency citing officials said the Shah Cherag Mausoleum, a pilgrimage site for Shia Muslims, was "armed" in the southern city of Shiraz before 6 pm local time on the 26th. A group of terrorists attacked and shot people inside the building."



At least 13 people were killed, according to Bahidi, who said the mausoleum was packed with evening prayers when it was attacked.

At least 15 people, including two children, were killed and 19 injured, state news agency said.



Since then, the shrine has been closed and the injured are being treated.



"Attempts to divide the nation through fear and violence will fail and the enemy will be punished," Raisi said in a statement.



Local security officials are investigating the situation in detail, and state television reported that security around the building was increased after the attack.
