“We reaffirm the need to take practical measures to launch negotiations on a legally binding instrument of a comprehensive nature in order to prevent an arms race in outer space,” RIA Novosti quoted Vorontsov as saying.
According to him, such an instrument should include guarantees of non-deployment of weapons in space, non-use of force against space objects.
On August 6, Andrey Belousov, deputy head of the Russian delegation at the NPT Review Conference, said that the United States could use the situation in Ukraine to implement its plans in the military space sphere, including for placing weapons in space.
