• Solidarity Little Oliver's anonymous hero: "Don't worry about money"

Little Óliver has finally left this Tuesday afternoon from

Cancun

to

Barcelona

.

Specialists from the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu

are waiting for him there ,

who will undergo surgery as soon as possible for the serious brain tumor that he suffers from and which seriously threatens his life.

The medicalized plane, which a Spanish businessman moved by the child's situation has paid for anonymously, took off around 8:00 p.m. (Spanish time) from Mexico.

David Romero

, Óliver's uncle, explained to

EL MUNDO

that, according to the flight plan provided by the Dutch company

EMX

, owner of the plane, it should land at El Prat airport around 2:00 p.m. this Wednesday.

David, who lives in Malaga, traveled this Tuesday from there to Barcelona by road to be in the city when his nephew and his parents arrive.

This is the brain tumor of little Oliver

Óliver, two and a half years old, travels on the medicalized plane, accompanied only by his mother,

Lena

, since no more than two people were allowed on the flight.

Both were transferred by ambulance on Tuesday afternoon from the Cancun hotel, where they have stayed while waiting to travel, to the airport.

The father,

Alejandro Romero

, who is originally from Malaga but lives in Mexico with his family, had made the journey hours earlier on a commercial flight and is already in Barcelona waiting for his son and his wife.

The race against time that the family started a few days ago to try to save Oliver's life seems to come to an end.

Alejandro and Lena took their son to a hospital on October 13 because he was listless, weak and without appetite.

The doctors who treated him found a grade III tumor in his brain and explained to his parents that his situation was critical, to the point of giving him between "15 days and a month to live."

None of the Mexican specialists that the parents consulted considered an operation viable, but they did find hope in the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, where they were willing to operate on him.

After this offer, the parents appealed for solidarity to be able to finance the expensive trip and found a businessman who has paid for the

196,400 euros

that it has cost to bring the child from Cancun on a plane.

Since time is of the essence for Oliver, he was scheduled to leave Mexico on Monday for surgery on Tuesday.

After several flight delays, it has finally taken off on Tuesday night.

"Oliver is quite well, we are super surprised. He is stable, he is not as he has always been, he cannot walk and he has little mobility in his right arm but he is talking, eating and sleeping," he told the world on Monday afternoon. It's Alejandro Romero.

The family hopes that the child can be operated on Wednesday night.
