US President Joe Biden received - on Tuesday - a dose of an updated vaccine against the Corona virus (Covid-19), and he called on Americans to receive that booster dose before the upcoming holiday season, especially the elderly.

Shortly before receiving the dose at the White House in Washington, Biden said, "I call on all Americans to get their doses as soon as they can."

While some Americans reject vaccines, Biden urged them to put aside partisan politics, noting that more than a million people have died in the United States from Covid-19.

Only 20 million people in the United States have received the updated vaccine, and one in five older adults has received it, according to the White House.

Biden urged his countrymen to get the booster shot by the end of October, in order to provide protection during the holidays.

The Corona virus continues to spread and claim lives, as the United States records more than 260,000 new infections per week, and about 2,600 deaths, according to data from the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
