China News Service, October 24. According to the US "Capitol Hill" report on the 23rd, with just over two weeks left before the midterm elections, US Democrats are stepping up their attacks on Republicans for trying to cut social security and medical insurance plans.

Republican leaders have reportedly said Social Security and Medicare need to be reformed or risk bankruptcy.

And said they would take a tough stance on the use of government funds if they regained a majority in Congress.

U.S. President Joe Biden accused Republicans of wanting to cut Social Security and Medicare in a speech on the 21st, saying he "will not give in" in protecting those programs.

Biden posted on social media, "Republican leaders have made it clear that unless we succumb to their demands to cut Social Security and Medicare, they will bring the United States into default and collapse the economy. This is not only a promise, it is more It's a threat."

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy accused Democrats of misrepresenting his remarks in an interview, claiming Republicans were preparing for the debt ceiling and plans to "strengthen" Social Security and Medicare.

But that hasn't stopped Democrats from continuing to attack the Republican Party, which has claimed to change key programs like Social Security and Medicare that older voters prioritize.

Senator Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat, tweeted that Republicans were "already conspiring" to slash those programs if they gained congressional power.

"Hard-working Americans receive these benefits, and no one should take them away," she added.

Social Security and Medicare are how voters over 50 determine their top five priorities when voting in the midterm elections, according to a survey released this month by the AARP.

It is reported that voters in this age group are the most motivated group to vote, and most of them have not yet decided who to vote for.
