The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomy Society, Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, stated that it is expected that the UAE, the Arabian Peninsula, the Middle East, Europe, western Russia and Northeast Africa will witness a partial solar eclipse today, and the partial eclipse will be seen in the Emirates at a rate of approximately 50% of the diameter of the moon, or close to 40% of the moon's area, which is the percentage of what the moon's disk will obscure from the sun's disk, which may reach about 86% in northern Siberia.

The eclipse will begin in the UAE at 14:42, while its peak will be at 15:51, and it will end at 16:54 local time in the Emirates.

He pointed out that the next solar eclipse that the UAE will witness will be on August 2, 2027.

While the astronomical phenomenon on the planet will start from 08:58 to 13:02, while the peak of the eclipse will be at 11:00 UTC.

It is seen on the ground in varying degrees, the most near northern Siberia, and the percentage decreases with distance from this site, while it will not be seen in the southern half of the Earth or the Americas.

Al-Jarwan cautioned that observing or looking at the sun with the naked eye is a matter that has health effects on the eye, especially at noon, as it may cause temporary blindness and damage to the retina of the eye, and the phenomenon of solar eclipses may draw attention to that.

To observe the phenomenon, sunglasses or darkened glass panels should be used to monitor the sun, such as those used in the metal welding process.
