Russian Foreign Ministry: attempts to withdraw peacekeepers from the South Caucasus are aimed at destabilization

The statement of the speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was published on the website of the Foreign Ministry.

According to her, unsubstantiated accusations are currently being circulated that the Russian side "supposedly does not fulfill its security obligations to Armenia."

She recalled that it was Russia that "stopped the war in November 2020, sent peacekeepers who brought peace and stability to the region, and to this day makes a decisive contribution to the settlement of armed incidents between Baku and Yerevan."

“Attempts by external forces to achieve the withdrawal of the Russian peacekeeping contingent are precisely aimed at destabilizing the South Caucasus,” Zakharova said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Russia for a trilateral summit.
