The northern lights can also be purple, blue, yellow, pink or white.

Or a mixture:

 - It can be different colors at the same time, they can change a lot and also the northern lights can be in different forms - drapery or pulsating.

Then the colors can appear largely mixed, so you see them at the same time, says SVT's meteorologist Pererik Åberg.

Red aurora is not as common to see as the green, but it is not the most unusual color either.
