Syrian media said that an unidentified drone targeted, this evening, Saturday, with several missiles, the headquarters of the American base in the Al-Omar field in the countryside of Deir Ezzor, eastern Syria.

The same sources added that explosions were heard inside the American base in the Al-Omar field in Deir Ezzor, amid flying marches.

On the ninth of last January, the base itself was bombarded with shells, and it is not yet clear who is responsible for the attack.

A few days earlier, specifically on January 5, the Al-Omar field was bombarded with missiles from the city of Al-Mayadin, which is under the control of the regime forces in Deir ez-Zor, after which the artillery of the international coalition - led by the United States - responded to the source of the missiles.

It is noteworthy that Deir ez-Zor province, located on the border with Iraq, is a strategic supply route for armed factions backed by Iran, which send reinforcements to Syria on a regular basis to support the regime.

American forces are also stationed in Deir ez-Zor as part of a combat mission against the Islamic State, which is still active on a limited level in Iraq and Syria.
