The time to nominate candidates for new C leader has expired.

Members as well as departments, districts and sister organizations have had the opportunity to nominate candidates.

TT has been in contact with a majority of the 21 Center districts, as well as the Center's youth association.

Few want to reveal who or whom they have nominated to succeed Annie Lööf.

According to information to TT, an order has gone out from the election committee not to disclose any names until further notice.

However, many have listened to the election committee's call to nominate several candidates.

The district in Västerbotten has nominated eight people and the chairman Mattias Larsson reveals that member of parliament Helena Lindahl is one of them.

- Obvious.

After all, she is our Member of Parliament and a driven politician who, from our perspective, protects northern Sweden.

Lindahl is seen as something of a "rebel" within the party since she defied the party line and voted no to Stefan Löfven (S) as prime minister after the last election.

Whether she accepts the nomination is unclear, TT has sought her without success.

Speculation is ongoing

The Center Party in Jämtland County in turn nominates Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist.

She was born in Sunne and grew up on Frösön, and previously worked as a political expert for Maud Olofsson.

The first to announce her candidacy for new Center leader was EU parliamentarian Emma Wiesner.

Member of Parliament Alireza Akhondi has also announced that he is standing for the post.

Other names mentioned in the speculation are the former economic policy spokesperson Emil Källström, who has already refused, and the former minister Anna-Karin Hatt, who lost the party leadership battle against Annie Lööf eleven years ago and now leads LRF.

The party's economic policy spokesperson Martin Ådahl, climate and energy policy spokesperson Rickard Nordin and Daniel Bäckström, new group leader for C in the Riksdag, have also been mentioned.

The Center Party backed down in the election – a big disappointment for the party, not least because it lost heavily in several previously strong Center strongholds in the countryside.
