A comprehensive strike is taking place in the West Bank today, Thursday, in mourning for the suicide bomber of the Shuafat camp Uday al-Tamimi, amid Palestinian calls for an escalation against the Israeli occupation.

The strike, which was called on Wednesday, paralyzes all aspects of life in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, including official and educational institutions and shops, in mourning for Tamimi's spirit and condemning the crimes of the occupation.

Simultaneously, rage marches pervaded Palestinian cities and towns in the West Bank, and confrontations erupted in occupied Jerusalem and other areas of the West Bank. The strike coincides with calls issued by the youth movement and Palestinian forces to escalate confrontations with the occupation forces.

Uday Al-Tamimi was killed yesterday, Wednesday, in an exchange of fire with security guards from the Ma'ale Adumim settlement, east of occupied Jerusalem.

A video clip showed an intense exchange of fire between Al-Tamimi and the guards, while he continued to fire from his pistol despite his injury.

The Israeli security services said that Uday al-Tamimi was the perpetrator of the shooting attack on the Shuafat camp about 10 days ago, which resulted in the death of an Israeli female soldier.

Confrontations and calls for escalation

In protest against the martyrdom of the perpetrator of the Shuafat camp operation, Palestinians opened fire at a military force at the Beit El checkpoints in Ramallah and Qalandia in occupied Jerusalem. As a result, the occupation forces closed the Qalandia checkpoint.

Clashes erupted between dozens of Palestinians and the occupation forces in Al-Fawwar and Al-Aroub camps in Hebron, the city of Bethlehem and the nearby town of Al-Khader, the town of Hawara in Nablus, and at the Al-Jalama checkpoint in the northern West Bank.

Angry rallies also took place throughout the West Bank, occupied Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, in which participants chanted slogans condemning the crimes of the occupation and supporting the martyr Tamimi.

The Shuafat camp witnessed demonstrations that roamed the streets, all the way to the home of the family of the martyr Uday Al-Tamimi.

In the same context, supporters of "Areen al-Aswad" (an armed group belonging to the Palestinian resistance and formed in the city of Nablus) went out in a night demonstration, knowing that the group vowed to respond to the occupation.

This comes at a time when the occupation forces are imposing a siege on the city of Nablus for the tenth day.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) called for a general strike today, and to escalate confrontations at all points of contact in the West Bank governorates.

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) also called on the Palestinians to follow the path of the Shuafat operation, and to activate all tools to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque and escalate the comprehensive resistance.

In turn, the Islamic Jihad movement said that the martyrdom of Uday al-Tamimi will not stop the fighting intifada raging throughout the occupied West Bank.

As for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, it said that the operation carried out by Al-Tamimi confirmed the failure of all attempts to separate the occupied city of Jerusalem from the Palestinian people and their cause.

The Front called on the Palestinian leadership to provide all capabilities to enhance the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and to care for the families of the martyrs.
