Today's Council of Ministers, on the proposal of President Mario Draghi and Economy Minister Daniele Franco, has approved a decree-law that introduces urgent measures on excise duties and VAT on fuels.

The cut in excise duties on fuels has been extended to November 18.

In order to counter the persistence of the energy crisis and, in particular, the increase in fuel costs, in continuity with the emergency measures adopted in 2022, the following is extended until November 18, 2022: the reduction of excise duty rates on energy products used as fuels (rates of excise duty on petrol, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) used as fuel);

the exemption from excise duty for natural gas for transport;

the reduction of the VAT rate (set at 5%) for the supply of natural gas used in motor vehicles.

A note from Palazzo Chigi reports it.

The provision would lose effect on October 31st.

The Council of Ministers was the last of the Draghi government.
