Ukraine came under renewed missile fire on Wednesday.

The anti-aircraft defense batteries fulfilled their role by destroying "several Russian missiles" over kyiv, said the capital's mayor, Vitaly Klitschko.

Several explosions were heard in the early afternoon, shortly after the anti-aircraft sirens went off.

The governor of the Vinnytsia region (southwest) also said that this territory was targeted by missiles and called on the inhabitants to stay safe.

The Ukrainian army announced for its part that it had shot down two Russian missiles in the Cherniguiv region, in the north of the country.

An Iranian-made drone exploded in Cherniguiv, capital of the eponymous region, according to its governor.

On Wednesday, the European Union gathered "evidence" showing that the drones used by Russia against Ukraine were supplied by Iran.

Brussels is preparing sanctions against the Iranian regime.

In total, the Ukrainian Air Force said on Wednesday that it had destroyed 223 Iranian drones since mid-September.

Tehran has repeatedly denied supplying weapons and drones to Russia in recent days.
