• The Organizing Committee for the Paris Olympic Games is looking for 45,000 volunteer volunteers to “contribute to the atmosphere of the Games”.

  • Anyone can apply online from March 2003 on the sole condition of being of legal age on January 1, 2024. Various missions await volunteers, from reception to assistance to athletes, including logistics.

  • If you will be fed and bleached, on the other hand, nothing is planned to help you find accommodation.

A significant difficulty for all volunteers who do not reside in Ile-de-France.

Do you have a passion for the orange ball but the reliability of your racquet headshot quickly extinguished your dreams of Olympism?

All is not lost and you can still taste the flavor of the Games by becoming a volunteer for the 2024 deadline. "It's the adventure of a lifetime and the opportunity to share unique emotions" , boasts Alexandre Morenon-Condé, deputy director in charge of volunteers at the Olympic Games Organizing Committee (Cojo).

The Cojo is looking for 45,000 volunteers to “contribute to the atmosphere of the Games”.

A single criterion is required to apply: be at least 18 years old on January 1, 2024. For the rest, "You must know how to speak French or English and be mobilized for ten days during the period of Olympic or Paralympic Games”, specifies Alexandre Morenon-Condé.

The Cojo hopes to achieve parity and attract as many people with disabilities as possible, in order to be as faithful as possible to its value of inclusiveness.

Start of applications in March 2023

The missions offered to volunteers are of three types.

"60% of them are at the service of the quality of the gaming experience, that is to say, reception, information, assistance", lists the deputy director for whom these missions are intended. to "people who want to interact with others".

Then come, for a third, the tasks in the service of sports performance (ball catcher, assisting the official timekeeper, the athletes on the infrastructures) and finally the missions more related to the organization itself, namely distributing the uniforms for staff, or accreditations for journalists, for example.

If you want to apply, you will have to wait until March 2023 and the opening of the online application process.

"There will be a questionnaire to find out the motivation and identity of the applicants", specifies Alexandre Morenon-Condé.

The registration window is scheduled to last six weeks so don't miss the boat.

The Cojo hopes to complete the assignment of missions before the end of 2023 then there will be online and face-to-face preparation in 2024, just before the games.

To border the operation as much as possible, an Olympic and Paralympic Volunteering Charter was drawn up with the State services.

Pre-selection streams

It should be noted that there will be a pre-registration phase for the public identified by the federations, local authorities and partners, even if there are no quotas of reserved places, swears the organization.

For example, the departmental council of Seine-Saint-Denis has set up an “All and all volunteers” system to “engage the inhabitants, especially young people, and that they contribute to hosting the Games on their territory”.

So on Friday, October 21, the department is organizing a special evening to inform about volunteering.

On the side of the Table Tennis Federation, we have also identified potential volunteers.

Either committed licensees or “competent volunteers in their experience”, in order to somehow “reward them for their commitment almost on a daily basis”.

Decathlon, partner and supplier of volunteer clothing, has also set up an internal pre-selection process.

Finally, the city of Paris will set up its own volunteer program with 5,000 expected volunteers who will have "missions of reception, information, orientation, but also animation and logistics".

Only downside, the non-support of housing.

As a volunteer, you will be laundered/fed (one meal a day) but to find accommodation, you will have to manage.

If this should not handicap Ile-de-France volunteers too much for those from the rest of France, it could pose a problem, as Ile-de-France rents are prohibitive, even more so during the Olympics.

“The Games will take place throughout France, there will not necessarily be a need to go to Paris”, demines Alexandre Morenon-Condé.

Likewise for the provincials, there are no reductions or partnerships planned with the SNCF or Air France to go up to the capital.

Volunteering is getting expensive.
