[Explanation] 14 years ago, Liu Xiuxiang, who grew up in the mountainous area of Guizhou, has touched countless people with the story of "carrying his mother to college for thousands of miles".
After graduating from university, he chose to go back to the depths of the mountains and lead more students out of the mountains.
Recently, Liu Xiuxiang recalled in an interview with a reporter from China News Agency in Beijing that when he first returned to teach in the mountainous area, although he had psychological expectations, the actual teaching conditions here still made him feel sad.

Because there was still a gap between what I had imagined after I went back, because the first was that the educational infrastructure at that time was not so perfect, and what parents and children like this kind of reading could bring them, in fact, they were I don't know, even at that time, among the common people, among many children, reading was useless.
Therefore, after 2012, I launched an action called the Action for Students to Go to the Countryside. At that time, it was mainly to go to 4 places to persuade students to study, that is, to tell them (they) to come to study.
[Explanation] In the past ten years, Liu Xiuxiang has broken down 8 motorcycles and successfully brought more than 1,800 students back to school.
Growing from a teacher to a vice-principal, he participated in the development of his hometown and witnessed the great changes in rural education in China over the past decade.

10 years ago, it would take us at least 8 to 10 hours to travel from Guiyang, the provincial capital of Guizhou, to the county where I teach.
Now it only takes two and a half hours from Guiyang to our county.
Another major change has taken place in the educational infrastructure. Now, children like middle schools can all live on campus. Its teaching facilities, including multimedia equipment, and book resources, etc., can basically meet the needs of students. .
Children, including ordinary people, have realized what reading can bring us.
