Professor of Astrophysics at the Department of Applied Physics and Astronomy at the University of Sharjah, Dr. Mashhour Al-Wardat, revealed that the UAE will witness a partial solar eclipse of up to 40% next Tuesday.

Al-Wardat said, through the "Direct Line" program on Sharjah TV, yesterday, that the UAE will witness in general a partial eclipse that will reach a maximum of 40% of the sun's disk.

He added that the eclipse will be partial in all the globe, and the largest proportion of it will be in Russia and will record 80%, while 40% within the country and in most of the Arab Gulf countries, indicating that the eclipse will start at 2:40 pm, and the summit of the eclipse will be at 3: 50 pm

He stated that the average person will see the eclipse with the naked eye in the form of clouds obscuring the disk of the sun, being a partial eclipse, instructing everyone not to look directly at the sun, and that whoever does not have special sunglasses can use a dark bottle similar to the one used by blacksmiths to look at the sun, or put Three sunglasses on top of each other, as well as using any filter that blocks a large amount of light to protect the eyes.

He explained that the Sharjah Academy of Astronomy and Space Science and Technology will open its doors to visitors free of charge, starting at two in the afternoon, to watch the eclipse, as there are special telescopes to monitor the sun, while the images will be displayed on special screens because it is difficult to look at the sun at this time.
