Simes noted that Ukraine has the right to make its own decisions.

Nevertheless, the journalist emphasized, “he (Kyiv. -

Simes called the widely held belief that Western countries should help Ukraine as much as needed as a gross mistake.

The journalist expressed confidence that the West needs to seek a peaceful resolution of the conflict through negotiations.

As The Washington Post previously reported, US leader Joe Biden told his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky that the US Congress could refuse to allocate money to Kyiv if the Ukrainian president continues to publicly complain about insufficient military assistance.

Later, Zelensky, during an appeal to PACE, said that Ukraine has only 10% of the required number of air defense systems in service.
