The Guardian reported that the Russian journalist Marina Ovsyanikova - who opposed the war on Ukraine, during a live TV broadcast - succeeded in escaping from Russia and seeking refuge in a "European country".

The British newspaper quoted Dmitriy Zakhvatov (the lawyer of the journalist Ovsiannikova) as saying that his client is currently in Europe, which she arrived a few hours before after leaving the house where she was in Russia.

The lawyer added that the media, Marina and her daughter are in good condition, and they will talk in due course about what happened, but not now because "the situation is not safe."

According to the Guardian, Ovsyanikova had previously carried a banner in front of the Kremlin in July, in which she criticized President Vladimir Putin, against the backdrop of the war on Ukraine.

house arrest

On the sixth of this month, Ovsyanikova surprised everyone by saying that she had escaped from house arrest imposed on her by the authorities.

"I consider myself absolutely innocent, and because our country refuses to comply with its own laws, I refuse to comply with the restrictions imposed on me starting from the 30th of last September and free myself from them," she wrote on the Telegram application.

And last March, Odessia Ovsyanikova, who was born to a Russian mother and Ukrainian father, made headlines around the world after storming her channel's evening news with a "No War" sign in English.

Ovsianikova was then arrested and interrogated for 14 hours before being released, and ordered to pay a fine of 30,000 rubles ($280) and was described by the West as a "heroine".

This Russian journalist was arrested in mid-July for a short period and then released after protesting against the war on Ukraine.
