The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai revealed the increase in the size of the Dubai Taxi Corporation's fleet of school buses to more than 750 buses equipped with the best technologies and tracking systems, in addition to the launch of the new smart application for bus transportation services.

In response to a question by "Emirates Today" about the most important projects that it implemented with the start of the school transport service for the current academic year 2023/2022, the authority said that it fully manages the school transport system through technical bus tracking systems and smart application services for bus transport, adding that the system Whose requirements are met by a number of departments and departments in the authority, including students, drivers, supervisors, and control and operation mechanisms, to ensure the provision of safe and easy transportation services for more than 26,000 students between public and private schools at the level of schools in the Emirate of Dubai.

Regarding the most important advanced technologies applied in the school buses of the authority’s fleet, the authority confirmed that it kept pace with continuous research and development efforts and ensured that its fleet of school buses was equipped with an integrated system of advanced technical systems to monitor and follow up on buses and students, which includes surveillance cameras and sensors to ensure that the bus is free of students, and a feature Emergency notification to communicate with the control center, the electronic tracking system for the bus and the student through the GPS feature, and the RFID radio wave identification system.

The authority stated that a plan of visits to schools and nurseries was implemented at the beginning of the new academic year, to ensure the safety of school buses, apply security and safety specifications, and issue the necessary permits to practice school transport activity, which included 286 schools and nurseries.

She added that the school buses were inspected to ensure that there was a permit when operating any vehicle in the school transport activity, and that the school bus was driven by an authorized driver, and to ensure the technical specifications approved by the authority for the seats and the internal and external shape of the school bus, and to ensure compliance with specifications and standards. regarding school bus safety, stressing that a violation will be imposed if a school bus is driven by a driver with an expired permit for more than 30 days.

The authority confirmed that the monitoring team inspects school buses through field visits, during which it is ensured that the applicable regulations are implemented in monitoring the operation of school buses and the imposition of violations in the event that the electronic stop arm of the school bus is not operating while it is stopping for students to get on or off, and in the event that the school bus is not removed or removed.
