Just the day before, the teachers, students and staff of Nankai University listened to and watched the grand opening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China for the first time, and welcomed the 103rd birthday of Nankai University in such an exciting way.

From 1919 to 2022, the 103-year-old Nankai has always shared the destiny with the country and the nation, and has always walked with the times and society.

　　At the beginning of its establishment, Nankai University set the school-running philosophy of "governing the country through literature, strengthening the country through rationality, and enriching the country through business".

"Are you Chinese?" "Do you love China?" "Would you like China?" In 1935, at the "Starting Ceremony" of the new academic year of Nankai University, President Zhang Boling put forward the inspiring "three patriotic questions".

　　At the end of July 1937, Nankai University was bombed and looted by the Japanese invaders, and the school was forced to move to the south. It formed the Southwest United University with Peking University and Tsinghua University, and wrote a glorious chapter in the history of Chinese higher education.

When the Japanese invaders bombed the Nankai campus, Zhang Boling said, "What the enemy can destroy is the material of Nankai; what the enemy cannot destroy is the spirit of Nankai."

This immortal Nankai spirit has inspired generations of Nankai people to forge ahead.

　　In 2019, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of Nankai University, the school proposed the "'4211' Nankai Action Plan for Excellence", that is, to implement the four major plans of "rejuvenation of liberal arts, improvement of science, advancement of engineering, and development of biomedicine" to build education and teaching and There are two major reward systems for scientific research, 10 interdisciplinary science centers will be built on campus, and 10 international joint research centers will be built together with world-class universities.
