Editor's note:

85 years ago, the American journalist and author Edgar Snow wrote a book Red Star Over China after observing the arduous struggle of the Chinese Communists, which caused a sensation among Western readers.

In the vicissitudes of life in 1985, the red star in Snow's writings not only illuminated China, but also impressed the world with the shining light of the East.

On the occasion of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, in order to let history illuminate the future and let the world understand China better, China News Network launched a series of reports on "Why Red Stars Shine in China", inviting celebrities, expert think tanks and overseas Chinese to discuss China Ten Years of great changes, looking forward to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the future development of China.

Cai Wenxian, president of the Portuguese Chinese Chamber of Commerce, was born and raised in Macau and witnessed the handover ceremony of the Macau government on the spot.

He said that since Macao's return to the motherland 23 years ago, the central government has always fully and accurately implemented the "one country, two systems" policy. Macao's various undertakings have achieved steady and long-term progress, and its social economy has developed rapidly. "I really feel the benefits of 'one country, two systems'."

Cai Wenxian is eagerly looking forward to the upcoming 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China to further unite the hearts and minds of overseas Chinese, to open up new horizons for overseas Chinese sons and daughters to tell Chinese stories well, and to let everyone work together for the early realization of national reunification and great national rejuvenation.
