“In order to ensure parity in the field of military security and maintain peace in the Republic of Belarus, a decision was made to create a regional grouping of troops on our territory.
It will be based on the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus in peacetime, as well as individual military formations of the Russian Federation, ”said Colonel Viktor Tumar, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic for scientific work.
He stressed that the regional grouping of troops is a defensive project that is being implemented to strengthen the security and defense of the state border of Belarus.
Thus, according to the military leader, the republic plans to reduce military activity in the border areas.
Earlier, a regime of counter-terrorist operation was introduced in Belarus.
The chairman of the State Security Committee of Belarus, Ivan Tertel, on the air of the Belarus-1 TV channel, stated that there was information that a series of terrorist attacks were being prepared in the country in connection with the creation of a joint armed group of troops with Russia.
Tertel also said that up to 300 militants had been trained by foreign intelligence services in Ukraine in order to capture one of the regional centers of Belarus.
