After it became clear that the Social Democrats, the Left Party and the Green Party are taking over the governance of the city of Stockholm, the new municipal government is going out with 13 city districts becoming eleven.

This means that two different district mergers await, one where Östermalm together with Norrmalm and the city are merged.

And one where Rinkeby-Kista and Spånga-Tensta become one and the same district.

The district mergers are based on a proposal from the Moderates in the City of Stockholm, which in 2018 wanted to see the then 14 districts become four.

A proposal that, among others, social democrats in the committees in both Rinkeby-Kista and Spånga-Tensta were critical of.

- This means that we will get more resources and the residents here will benefit from this, says Rashid Mohammed, chairman-elect of Spånga-Tensta.
