It was Sweden's Radio Västernorrland that was the first to tell about the incident in its reporting on Friday.

Aila Heimonen, 78, was demented and suffered from osteoporosis.

She lived in a nursing home in Kramfors.

At the end of September, daughter Nina, who lives in Stockholm, was contacted by the staff at the accommodation.

- The first thing the nurse said was that mother had a bruise on her arm and needed an X-ray.

Fracture and dislocated arm

At first, she thought it sounded a bit excessive to X-ray the arm for a bruise, but then received the news that at Sollefteå hospital, a fracture was found in the upper arm and that the shoulder was dislocated.

- Then I panicked and wondered what they were doing and got in the car and drove up, says Nina Heimonen.

Wondering what happened

But no one can answer how the damage occurred.

No one at the residence has reported any incident leading up to the fracture, which appears to have been discovered the day after it occurred.

At the same time, Nina believes that her mother could not have caused the damage herself through an accident.

- No one has admitted that something has happened to my mother and I can say that it is noticeable when a shoulder dislocates.

Painful injury

If someone dislocates their arm or breaks their arm, it is painful, Nina confirms.

She believes that someone in the staff should have noticed that the mother was in pain.

- There may have been an accident, but no deviation report has been made about it.

I think it's terrible and I feel really bad.

Aila died on Sunday after suffering from pneumonia.

Kramfors municipality is now investigating what happened and whether any mistakes were made.
